We are the BSEC Champions - 02/09/2013

Well here we are at the last two rounds of the British Sprint Enduro Championship held on 31st August & 1st September 2013 at Chacombe, Oxfordshire. The track is all natural with no motocross or extreme sections, just undulating farm and woodland, a complete contrast to the previous round at Westwood, Sheffield.

Saturday
Matti used the sighting lap to test the TC250 and decided to opt for the softer power of the TXC250 for this track.

Matti started the day cautiously, something that stems from advice he has been given with reference to securing second place in the World Enduro Championship, he continued with this strategy until the back to back laps 7 & 8 when he returned to his normal aggressive, all out style which set the pattern for the second day. With the change in Matti's riding style he ended the day just 9 seconds behind Jamie McCanney.

Sunday
Matti started the second day as he meant to carry on, in his words 'flat out'. The result was poetry in motion as he proceeded to annihilate the opposition lap after lap. Matti finished the day 35 seconds ahead of second man Jamie McCanney. The relief on Wyn's face as the championship was secured without any bike issues, was a picture.

We started the season in the depths of despair after having the teams race bikes stolen at the first round in Tetbury and we finish it on the greatest of highs, having had great fun with this years team and lots of hard work along the way.

There is no doubt the Sprint series is the premier enduro series this season, borne out by the effort other teams, as well as ourselves, have made in order to try to win this championship.

We now start the process of securing riders for next season as part of the ongoing mission to make Freestyle number one.

We will also of course be speaking with our sponsors in the hope that they wish to continue their generous support into the 2014 season, but in the meantime thank them all very much.

British Sprint Enduro Championship 4th August - 05/08/2013

Round 6, another one day event took us to Westwood and a totally different style of course than we have experienced so far with the Sprint series. A mainly woodland, old school enduro track which was very technical. Also this round had attracted a number of new riders to the series from home and abroad including some top names.

The team knew this round was going to be tough from the outset as Matti was limping quite badly on his return from walking the course on Saturday still suffering with his broken foot, but also on this type of terrain and on form, Jamie McCanney would be difficult to beat.

Although the suspension on Matti's bike worked well we are finding it difficult not having any testing or practice time with him so all the setting-up has to be done during the racing, not ideal really. Matti had a mixed day ending in 4th position which was due partly to two big off's, otherwise a podium position would definitely have been on. So although we go into the final two rounds with Matti leading the championship it is still all to play for.

James started the day in fine form setting the third fastest expert time, following that up with some good rides until a loose dog on the track sent him over the handlebars causing him to loose nearly a minute on that one lap which he struggled to recover from. Ollie put in a day of good consistent times.

Thank you as always to our sponsors, our support team and of course to Jonty and his team for a great event. The final rounds take place on 31st August & 1st September a little closer to home at Banbury, Oxfordshire.
