Championship Rd SEEC Timecard Enduro at Wiley by Ben Wibberley - 26/02/2015

"Witley held round one of the SEEC Timecard Championship. It was at Warren Heath which was a good 2 hours drive, this unfortunately meant getting up at 5.20 to get loaded and arrive for a suitable time.

It was a good start to the day. No rain thankfully but a little fresh! I was away at 10.01 and the lap was broken down into checks but totalling 16 miles. The 1st check included two special tests and one soecial test on after check two. That meant 3 special tests each lap. The first lap however was sighting and not timed. I started nice and steady as I knew the first lap should be quite relaxed on time and still had about 12 minutes to spare. Here I realised that the day would be won and lost on the specials!! The going was wet and boggy in places which meant constant concentration two ensure you didnt get stuck or lose time. There were plenty of stumps, fallen trees and bracken which were easy to get caught on and cause a silly crash. Luckily I kept my eye's peeled for the best routes and managed to avoid any of these!
The first special test was open going which was very soft and got extremely rutty. This suited the motocross rider. The next two tests were tight and technical in places but still quick! I liked these 2 better and they suited me more but there was still the constant look out for tree stumps!
As the day progressed everything was going well and then the rain came. This tightened up the lap times and only myself and Steve White made the 40 min check. Even though I was very cold by the end in the rain I enjoyed the day and happy to take the win. The bike was awesome all day and didn't miss a beat.  Next round is the LFB at Slab Common on the 29th March which I look forward to.
Thanks to my dad for putting for me and standing in the horrible weather and to Freestyle Bikes for all the help and support."
As ever a huge thank you all our sponsors and supports as well as all who helped run the event.

Round 2 of the Fast Eddy Xtreme Enduro by Ben Wibberley - 26/01/2015

"The day started a little cloudy but some sunny spells throughout the day meant a nice temperature for riding, with a cool breeze but without the bitter cold that had plagued most of the country these last few weeks. The course looked wet and muddy in tough in places but I was keen on it and I was confident as I prepped my bike for the day ahead.
The Experts race started at 12.30pm after the morning Sportsman, Vets and Youth race. I was lined up behind the Pros who were in 2 rows, the flag dropped and they set off, 10 seconds later so did we in one line of 40 riders!
In only 10 meters or so was the first slippy little rock garden and getting mass bikes through this turned into carnage! I had a horrendous start and got completely taken out into the first corner, unfortunately this meant entering this rock garden behind the whole field of riders.
This lost me a lot of time and then it was a constant battle through traffic.
It was a tough 2 and a half hours race with no let up for a rest. I struggled to get myself into a stride for the first lap or two but then I found my rhythm and knuckled down to bring in some good lap times. The conditions got worse and worse as the day went on with the mud getting deeper but I owe a lot to a number of spectators who helped me up some of the steeper hills.
It was a tough day with constant pounding on the body but I pushed on best I could and managed 10th in the Experts and 23rd overall. I feel the start was where I lost most ground but this is something I can learn from. We were all quick off the mark but next time I wont allow them to cut me up so easily!"

The Freestyle Sidcup 60 Trial Race report - 19/01/2015

It was a cold overcast start to the day as 120 riders set out the Canada Heights for the Sidcup 60 Trial sponsored by Freestyle. We had 4 riders entered for the trial, Simon Bird, David Gilbert, Alex Davies and Ashley Newbery who unfortunately was unable to attend due to injury. Simon and David, both in the Expert Elite class, had a reasonably successful day bared by a few unfortunate errors along the way. They headed off to section 1 and was greeted by one of the hardest sections of the day, but having conquered it they were warmed up and scored consistantly throughout the rest of the sections.
Alex, our youth competator of only 10 years old, has recently moved up a class so had a great challenge in front of him. Having taken the first few sections to get into his stride, overcoming an unfortunate mishap resulting in a broken mudguard, he went on to finish an enjoyable day where others failed to do so.
In all, the trial proved to be a challenge to all classes, with some tricky sections and difficult conditions. Although the day was long and tiring the majority of the field thoroughly enjoyed their days sport.

We would like to thank all our sponsors as ever as well as all the helpers and observers without whom the day could not take place.

Round up of 2014 Trials Season - 23/12/2014

So 2014 was a good year for the Freestyle Trials riders.

Ashley Newbery was 2014 South East Centre trials champion - Once again Ashley proves he's still number 1 in the South East despite being the oldest rider competing in the Elite class. Good luck for 2015 Ashley.
Simon Bird 2014 North Kent Trials Combine Champion - Simon still leading the way at local events on his 280 Jotagas. Simon is our bike sales manager and is also an instructor for the Trials courses with Freestyle Training
We also had great success with Simon Bird & David Gilbert at the Scottish Six Day Trial in May, collecting 1st and 2nd class awards.

Well done boys!!
Lets see what you get up to in 2015!!

The Heads of the Valleys, Extreme Enduro - 16/12/2014

It was a successful weekend at The Heads of the Valleys for Freestyle.

Freezing conditions greeted the riders and made the qualifying heats on day one trecherous with ice. Ben Wibberley put in a cautious first lap, which left him on the second row of the grid, his second lap however was more aggressive and took him into 9th overall and on the front row to start the second day. Behind him was Wyn Hughes on the second row and Rhian George on the third row at the end of the first day.

Rain and high winds was the conditions that met them on the Sunday morning, which was only going to make what looked like an impossible course with massive hill climbs even more challenging.

Ben started the day steady and held 11th place, then as the race developed his trials skill came into play and he moved into 6th position until being bullied back to finish in 7th place overall and 2nd in the Experts.

Wyn came in at the end of the day with a big grin on his face having won the Vets class with some great all round riding.

Unfortunately the day didnt go so well for Rhian who drowned her engine in a water crossing and was only able to complete one lap on the Sunday. She still had a smile on her face however as she had enjoyed the experience and was pleased with her riding and fitness.

We would like to thank all our sponsors as ever and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Final round of the British Enduro Championship - 17/11/2014

So Sunday was the final round of the British Enduro Championship. Our lady rider Rhian George made her come back after being off her bike for the latter part of the season, so lovely to have her return with a huge grin on her face. She posted some good times and finished the day 2nd in the ladies class.
Joe who has had some time off his bike for the last month to concentrate on his training, was entering this event already BEC Expert champion and now confirmed under 19 British Sprint Champion. Joe had only spent one weekend on the bike prior to this event but still managed to post the fastest expert times all day and would of been right up there in the elite class. Throughout the BEC Joe has won every day of competition in the expert class.
Everybody at Freestyle, riders and support crew would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors again for all their help and support in this truly remarkable season, without you all this would of not been possible.
Looking forward to working with you all again next season.
